Since its founding, Zaman has applied a needs-based, community-driven approach to all programming in order to help households meet their basic needs and break the cycle of poverty. We are dedicated to addressing the diverse needs of our clients. Unlike most organizations, Zaman is flexible and willing to work outside of strict programs and policies in order to respond quickly and effectively to our client’s needs. We develop personal relationships with our clients through home visits and meet regularly to ensure assistance is exactly what they need.

Volunteer tasks fluctuate depending on the needs, but here are some of the usual options:

  • Sorting dry/canned food donations
  • Measuring lentils, rice, and bulgar
  • Sorting and rolling cloth donations
  • Shredding expired files
  • Helping in the Good Deeds store with
    • Hanging clothes, taking clothes off racks, cleaning floors, shelves, and housewares, organizing housewares, cleaning up and organizing racks of clothes.
  • Sorting, cleaning, and organizing various donations throughout the warehouse
  • Organizing the cloth in the sewing center
  • Cutting paper items
  • Putting together mailings
  • Connecting computers to wifi and cleaning out laptops and desktops
  • Filing
